Trip to Hong Kong – 2013

I have visited South Korea many times but fortunately for my last two trips I got return trip via Hong Kong with layover of nine hours !! Yes 9 full Hrs…

I know sometimes these 9 hours will be painful but if you use these in other way, its like visiting a new country on way back to your home. Specially for me who loves to travel, its a nice travel treat. Many times I will be day dreaming if I have enough money, will plan for world tour the very next day…

Jokes apart, for Indian passport holder we can get ON ARRIVAL fourteen days Hong Kong Visa. Immigration officer will put paper stamp on your passport and you will be outside airport on Hong Kong streets.

We visited two main tourist attraction places,

1. Big Buddha also know as Tian Tan Buddha, is a big bronze statue of buddha located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. There are other ways to reach this place but we traveled through most famous Ngong Ping Cable Car which is 5.7 KM cable-way and can give traveler mesmerizing view of lush green mountains, HK International Airport, South China sea and of course Big Buddha all together in your transparent ( even bottom view) cable car.

2. Victoria Harbor by Star Ferry – Star is a company which provides traveler and passenger service between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. It gives the spectacular skyline view of Hong Kong Island.

Long time since I posted…

Today seating alone in home remembered that I have blog page, so typed URL and pressed enter.

It’s been long time I posted anything on my blog. It was way back in December 2010. Saw on lift hand side, archive posts tags as December 2010, April 2010, August 2009, 2008, 2007. Felt little bad about this.

My life is moving on but not my blog. There should be some archive of our memories also so that in future when we see our posts again, we can remember our old memories and moments.

Now onward, will try to archive my memories more frequently in the form of posts…

Trip to South Korea – 2010

Started my journey from Bangalore and reached Inchon international airport (Seoul) via Hong Kong on October 17th.

This is my second trip to South Korea, Last time I visited Korea in Sep 2007, which was autumn season and is the best time to come here. This time it was starting of winter which will be at its peak in the December mid to January (around -5 to 5)

I have managed to take out some time in weekends to see some places nearby Seoul city.

1.  Namsan Tower

Also known as the Seoul tower, it’s a must visit place in the Seoul. You can find out nice surrounding views of whole city from this area. Special attraction is the cable car and the night light shows done to the Seoul tower.
As I visited this place in the morning and missed nice lighting view of the tower, but will suggest you to be there in the night time.

2. War Memorial of Korea
This park is full of aircraft, tanks, and other military machines used from the Korean War. One of the most touching scenes is the statue of two brothers, one from the South Korea and another from North Korea and meeting in the battlefield like this…

3. Itaewon
The best place to visit, if you are really tired of daily Korean food, There are many restaurants which provides international cuisines including Indian, Pakistani, Thai and many others which are not easily available in other parts of Korea.
I had my dinner in the Indian restaurant called “Chakraa”, its famous restaurant among Indians in Korea.

4. Yongsan – Electronic market
Whenever I come to Korea, I would like to visit this place, as you can get some nice good gadgets in reasonable price (depends your bargains) Last time I purchased Sony H50 DSLR ,but this time I was bit disappointed as I couldn’t find the e-book reader. Anyway place is worth to visit once…

5. Gyeongbokgung Palace
This palace represents the Korean history and culture. The Palace itself is beautiful and the secret gardens are worth a visit. But need bit of extra time to see the complete area.

My First Touch Screen – Samsung Star s5233

Samsung Star

After playing two years with my old Sony Ericsson k750i, I thought lets come to the next generation touch Screen Phone. So I purchased new Samsung Star s5233 from E-Zone show room.

I feel it was a good deal, paid 9k for Samsung Star Set + 4 GB Memory Card + Blue-Tooth Hands Free (worth Rs. 1500)

After using, I think its worth paying 9k instead of paying 30k for iphone.

Chandrayaan-1 – Indian Moon mission

Like 1960’s the race towards the moon between US & USSR placed, now its time for two upcoming super powers like CHINA & INDIA joined the moon mission.

In a historic event, the ISRO placed Moon Impact Probe ( MIP ) with the launch of the Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft on 22-Oct.  MIP has been successfully landed on the moon surface at 8:31 PM IST.

One of the main objective of Indian moon mission is to mine helium-3 a perfect fuel for fusion reactors which is all-most unavailable on Earth surface. If you believe on scientists who tells that Helium-3 can create 100 times more energy than the other natural energy sources like coal, oil, and natural gas on earth.

BTW Congratulation to INDIA & ISRO for successful landing of MIP on moon surface.

Tata Indicom Internet Connection..

Yesterday my new Tata Indicom Internet connection got activated, I was eagerly waiting to see how much speed it will give.

After my first hit, I thought its OK only not a GREAT one.

Tata tells you 153.6 Kbps speed but I seriously doubt it will give you that also. The best part of this is its having USB Plug & surf hardware, which you can use anywhere in the country.

I paid totally 2830 bucks for that and hope it should be worth.

Good thing is that now I can blog more friequently from my HOME …..
